Are You Decorating A Boy's Room?

Posted on

If you have decided that it's time to redecorate your young son's bedroom, you probably have some fun planning and some fun shopping ahead of you. From selecting the paint for your son's bedroom walls to purchasing the bedroom furniture, here are a few ideas that might help you to design a room that will be both attractive and practical.

Start With The Wall Paint - Have you ever considered that interior paint on walls helps to set the mood for the room? That will also be true in your son's bedroom. Have you decided on a theme for your son's bedroom? For example, does your son absolutely love baseball? If so, consider painting the walls a very light blue and then stenciling the top of the walls in a bolder color with a baseball-themed design, maybe baseball hats, baseball gloves, and baseballs. Perhaps you have chosen a western theme for your son's bedroom. If so, consider faux painting the walls to look like denim or to look like leather. If you want something like a zoo theme or a jungle theme, consider painting some of the walls with your son's favorite color, saving one wall for a mural that depicts a zoo scene or a jungle scene.

The Bedroom Furniture - How large is your son's bedroom? If it is small, consider purchasing bunk beds so that there will be enough space for when your son wants a buddy to spend the night. Another idea is to select a futon for your son's bed. By doing this, he'll have a sofa by day and a bed by night. Of course, if the bedroom is large, any bed can more than likely work. Consider buying a chest of drawers and at least one end table that can hold a lamp for reading in bed. Think of other furniture your son will use over the years. For example, will your son be studying in his bedroom? If so, consider buying a study table that can also serve as a computer desk. Think of buying a floor-to-ceiling shelf where your son can store things like books, puzzles, board games, and collectibles like sports trophies and family photographs. If there is enough space, think of also purchasing a super comfortable chair, maybe even a beanbag chair, where your son can read. If there is enough space, matching rocking chairs would be nice too.
