3 Things To Do To Get Ready To Have Your House Painted

Posted on

When you've decided that you are more than ready to have the walls in your house painted to a color you'd rather have than boring white or a plain neutral, you may decide that you want to have some painters come and do the job for you. If you are going to have painters come and do your walls, there are things that you can do that will make it easier for the painters to do their jobs.

Move Your Furniture

One thing that you can do is to move the furniture in the room or rooms that you want to be painted. If you can't get all the furniture out of the room and into another room, move it into the center of the room. That way, it shouldn't be in their way as the painters are trying to do their job. Having all the furniture out of the way will make sure that the painters can get to painting as soon as possible.

Clean Thoroughly

After you've moved all the furniture, you want to put in some serious cleaning time. This isn't saying that you don't regularly clean, but the cleaner the room is and the walls are, the more likely you are to get a nice smooth paint job. So, what you want to do is sweep or vacuum the floors, and mop them well, if they aren't carpeted. You should also dust everything off as well as possible, and if you think the walls look dirty, you may want to wash them as well with some soap and water. Make sure that you rinse the walls off to get rid of all the soap residue.

Secure Your Pets

If you have cats or dogs, you want to make sure that they aren't going to be in the painters' way while they are trying to do their job. If you can, you will want to lock them up in another room. Another option is to use a gate to the doorway of the room that they are painting, but clever animals may be able to get around that. You may also be able to find a pet daycare that can take your pet during the day that the room is getting painted.

If you are tired of the color of your walls, you have options. One of them is to have painters come in and spruce up your house a bit. For more information, reach out to painting companies like Walls-N-All Painting.
